Settling in for the Night

Shadowstar skidded to a stop at the middle of her den. She circled to look outside, laying down on the straw-covered floor. Her tail plumped to the ground as a shiver crawled up her spine. Where had Diesel been? Where had her mate been? I tear fell from her face, he haden't been seen for days. He'd done this before, but only for a couple of hours; Not like this, 'h-hes only messing with me, h-hes fine,' she told herself; But it didn't help, her mind was frozen and all she could think about was Diesel and if he might be in trouble. "He will be in some trouble if he's just messing with me," she growled to herself. She shook her head vigorously, 'what am I thinking, he's better than a bitter old coot who doesn't know how to have a good time.'

Tears started up a small puddle beside Shadowstar, she didn't care. She only wished for her love to be back; For him to lie against her body. A slight sigh came from no-where out of her mouth. 'What if he's-he's dead..?' She questioned herself as her tears continued to flow down her cheeks, slight sobs arising from her teary face. She can only hope he will return to her, safe and sound.

Silvermist nodded, comforted my the warmth of his body next to hers. She padded to the sleeping hollow to her own den, curling up in her once-warm nest and closed her eyes. She immediately fell into the same dream she was having before.

She was surrounded by flowers in a beautiful meadow. She enjoyed the sweet scent of them floating around her nose. She happily trotted along, seeing many butterflies flutter about the land as far as the eye could see. Then, she saw the wolf from before standing too far away for her to recognise. She called out, but it didn't speak. Instead of standing still like before, it was running toward her. Somehow she felt comforted by it, so she ran to meet it also. They both met, and the strange wolf nuzzled her lovingly. She suddenly realized who the wolf was-- it was Silvermoon. She nuzzled him and then turned, and they both ran through the beautiful feild together. Nothing could ruin that perfect dream.

Slivermoon watched as Silvermist walked back to her den. he let a long yawn escape from his jaws, he had a long day and was ready to get some sleep. he walked to his den and layed down on his bedding.

He layed there thinking of they that would change tomarrow. he now had a mate he would do anything for, he thought of many things that night. would he be a good father to his pups, would they remeber for the good he as den for his pack like his parents. he let his mind race untill he was able to fell asleep

Leafpool raced into the Kenos camp. It wasn't a wise idea, but she needed help. Stormpup needed help. Leafpool's tan and brown body was a blur as she ran for the sleeping hollow. "Shadowstar! Shadowstar!" The noise Leafpool was making could wake up the sleeping wolves in her camp! There had been an outbreak of greencough, an epidemic Leafpool had been sorely prepared for. She was completely out of mint, the only remedy that could save countless wolves' lives.

"Anybody! Help!" Leafpool continued to scream, her beautiful voice turning shrill with worry and terror. The other wolves were not as sick as the pup, but Stormpup could die within the hour if she was not treated. She was a fighter, but sad few pups or elders survive greencough, even when they were being treated. Leafpool could do nothing but pace and worry until some wolf woke up. Maybe, just maybe, they would have some mint. If not...Lenosa was doomed.


OOC: By the way, since Kenos is the "mean" pack, they won't want to help very much...XD

Silvermist was abruptly woken up from her perfect dream by some bone-head yelling outside of the camp. She got to her paws and prodded Silvermoon awake. "Lets see who this is," she said grumpily. She hauled herself out of her den and padded quickly across the clearing to Shadowstar's den. She pause outside the den and called to Shadowstar, "Shadowstar, wake up. There's someone out here."

Silvermist turned from Shadowstar's den and quickly walked to the camp's enterance, scenting Lenosa pack on the breeze. She growled to herself as she reached the enterance and finally faced the intruder. It was Leafpool, the Lenosa medicine wolf. "What are you doing!" Silvermist growled, "Your going to scare away all the prey in the forest if you don't quiet down!" she kneded her paws angrily on the ground.

Leafpool ignored Silvermist's annoyed tone. "It's Stormpup! And the rest of my pack. There's been an epidemic of greencough, and I'm completely out of mint! There's none in my stores, and I can't find any on Lenosa territory. You have to help!" Leafpool was being more quiet, but her voice was still high and shrill with terror. "Stormpup could die any minute if she's not treated, and Strife will have my head is I don't save his daughter. Please, you have to help!"

Shadowstar was disrupted from her now starting sleep, she growled annoyingly at Leafpool as she had dared travel to they're territory. She stood to her paws and walked outside, going into a more offensive stance; But showed more calmness than anything else. She let a slight snarl come from her maw, but otherwise kept quiet.

"What do you take us for, Leafpool? Get your own mint, you should easily find it in your own territory," Shadowstar growled, still in her aggressive stance. But then she heard the word pup at the end of the wolf's name that Leafpool was talking about. "However," she sighed, "warrior code must be followed, and that includes me." She finished, her ears now closely along her skull.

Shadowstar didn't like the idea of helping them, but if she disobeyed the rules, she knew she would get punished. "But make it quick," she growled at last, hastily looking around for the plant asked for. "What does it look like, Leafpool?" She said with a aggravated tone, continuing to search.

Slivermoon growled to himself. he was ready to get up he still felt tired but he couldn't just lay there and let any old wolf trespass in their territory.He Slowly stood up and sleepily walked out of the den. as he stepped out of the den he could smell the scent of a wolf from their rival pack.

Silvermoon ran to Silvermist's side and growled "what is she doing here" he lowed his body into a fighting stance ready to pounce on leafpool

Leafpool shrank back; she had not practiced her fighting moves in some time. "My source of mint has been depleted by twolegs." Leafpool brightened when Shadowstar agreed to find some mint. Then Silvermoon came out and asked what Leafpool was doing there. "What I'm doing her is between Shadowstar andd Strife." Then, to Shadowstar, she added in a calmer, nicer voice: "Mint is a sweet-smelling, leafy green plant. It's scent is sharp, but hard to miss. Your healer should have some in their den." Leafpool glanced around anxiously. She was not a coward, but if this meeting erupted into a battle, Leafpool wouldn't stand a chance.

Silvermist snorted in agreement that there should be plenty of mint on Lenosa territory, but she flicked her ears back in frustration when Shadowstar started helping. She sighed, knowing that she couldn't disobey her leader, especially her best friend. She calmed down a bit, and finally joined in the search, sniffing along the ground for the strong-smelling herb.

She finally found a patch. Silvermist bit at the herbs and gathered them all in her jaws. When she could carry no more, she walked back to Leafpool and dropped them at her paws. "Is that what you needed?" she asked, alot calmer now than before, though still annoyed that Leafpool came to the very heart of Kenos territory.

"Yes! Thankd you all so much!" Leafpool was slightly ashamed that she had to come to Kenos for help, but what was needed was needed. The stars glittered strongly, as if their warrior ancestors were pleased with the Kenos wolves. Leafpool could not stay much longer. The sick wolves at her camp needed her. "Shadowstar, Lenosa is in your debt. I can't thank you enough. But now I must go treat my clanmates. May Starclan be with you." With that, Leafpool raced out of the camp with the mint in her jaws. The moon continued to glimmer, stronger than before. Starclan approved.

Silvermist watched Leafpool run away, and she suddnely realized how tired she was. Silvermist stretched her jaws wide in a long yawn and turned around to face her Pack mates. "We'd better get some sleep," she suggested, padding back into camp and entering her den. She shivered from the cool night time breeze as she entered the warm den, curling up in her nest.

Silvermoon growled at Leafpool as she left and as she was running pack to her pack he called out to her. "when you want something from our leader its between all of us" he howled. He listened to what Silvermisy said and nodded his head" yeah your right we got a long day at sunrise". he padded back to his den and settled down in his nest.

Shadowstar was surprised to how fast Silvermist found the mint, but quickly removed the smirk from her face. "Now be on your way," she growled to Leafpool, turning to Silvermist. "Well done, Silvermist, you've done well." She couldn't help but break into a bit of tears as her memories of Diesel came running back, she had forgotton as she slept.

Shadowstar turned away from the others, sitting in depression. She couldn't watch over the pack in this manner, and that's just how she felt.
